After almost a month after our neighbors in the region got theirs, Sony Philippines has finally launched the PlayStation 4 here on our fair shores. In case you haven’t been following the news, Sony’s next-gen console has been very well received overseas with sales figures beating those of its only real rival, Microsoft’s Xbox One.
The launch event, held at at the Glorietta activity center yesterday, 14 January, also saw the launch of the PlayStation Vita 2000, and the PlayStation Vita TV, which allows, among other things, games to be played natively on the device, and serves as a receiver at which you can remote play PS4 games.
The launch showed off a few of the abilities of the next-gen PlayStation and a few of the very impressive Augmented Reality features it packs right out of the box. Guests were also allowed to spend a little time with each of the new devices, to help them with the decision of whether or not to make a purchase. Those who were ready to make the commitment were given a special treat in the form of extended warranties for all PlayStation 4 purchases at the venue util 15 January 2014.
