SolarFocus recently launched a solar powered case called the SolarKindle and is currently compatible with the Kindle Touch and Kindle 4. The e-Reader cover won the Innovation Award at CES 2012 earlier this year, and features a built-in solar panel, an integrated 1500 mAh lithium-polymer reserve battery, and an LED reading lamp.
With just one hour of direct sunlight, the SolarKindle is able to provide up to three days of lighted reading time on your Kindle devices. The energy gathered by the case’s battery can also be transferred to the Kindle’s battery to lengthen reading time, with one hour of charge providing around 10 days of extended battery life.
The cover for the Kindle Touch weighs only 215 g, while the one for the Kindle 4 weighs 250 g. The SolarKindle cases can be ordered through the SolarFocus website here http://www.solarmio.com/en/default.aspx at a retail price of US $ 79.99 (approximately Php 3,360).
