Electronic Arts has released a statement celebrating the success of Battlefield 3 – which has become the software developer’s fastest selling game ever. The first person shooter reportedly sold 5 million copies in its first week globally, after hitting store shelves last October 25th. Currently, Battlefield 3 now holds the record for the most initial sales in EA’s successful history, topping heavyweights in their lineup such as FIFA and Madden.
Attributing the games success to high-scored reviews across all compatible platforms (PS3 / Xbox 360/PC) and via good ol’ word-of-mouth, EA is proud to report that their servers are now withstanding the massive volume of users logging on for the “superior multi-player experience”, after some initial problems.
So, if you’re willing to dole out the cash, you might want to grab a copy. But don’t forget that Modern Warfare 3 is set for release on November 8.
