Seems like HTC’s move to bundle Beats headphones in their devices is coming to an end – according to a CNET interview, Martin Fichter, an HTC product executive said that customers don’t really choose smartphones because of the headphones bundled in. “An accessory like the headphone doesn’t factor in when someone is buying a smartphone,” he said to CNET. “If they want a Beats headphone, they’ll buy it directly.”
That doesn’t mean this is the end of Beats technology in their devices, as you don’t simply throw away a 300 million investment because of some difficulties. HTC says that it’ll still integrate Beats Audio technology in the phones, something that you’ll probably see when the new HTC devices pop up in the Philippines (which we guarantee is very, very soon). And while HTC hasn’t completely closed down the bundled Beats headphones route, Martin said that it wasn’t something the company is considering in the near term.
